I found this artwork elsewhere and placed it in a folder of tons of dragon wallpapers. when it finally came up I was like "I MUST find this artist... Thank GOD for you putting your name on it in the bottom corner or I would of never find you!
Whoa, this really is an amazing place. I like how the canyon retreats back into the huge mountains beyond. And those clouds are developing pretty rapidly for this early in the morning. I bet the active clounds would make it a good flying day, and your dragon could probably make it to those distant mountains on glide, if he wished.
But why would he? I love how he's sprawled out across the rocks, like there is all the time in the world. I wonder what the sunrise looked like from his perspective.
I don't think I'm the right person to ask. If I were to analyse it I would say dragons would be more developed like birds and higher dinosaurs to be endothermic (warm blooded). But then again, it's fantasy so just decide for yourself.
Thanks for your nice words. And I do enjoy the blabbering!
I finished this about a month after I started, though I definitely was not working on it every day. I'd say the background in it's entirety took about 8 days of working several hours a day and I don't remember how long the dragon took.
Your background is absolutely gorgeous and the dragon is both extremely detailed and highly dynamic. Your use of color and the near-photo realism of the landscape is incredible. My favorite parts have to be the clouds, the far right rock face in the back there, and the dragon's left back leg. I look forward to seeing more of your work!
